Kellymoss, championship Porsche racing team, is entering its second year of introducing career opportunities in motorsports to teen girls via our partnership with Girl Scouts councils across the country.
In early August, the Motorsports Mastery program kicked off with record youth trackside participation at Road America, the home track for Kellymoss. During the IMSA Sportscar Weekend on August 3, the girls participated in four role-based workshops in Engineering, Marketing, Pit Crew and Logistics, practicing hands-on activities typically found in those areas. To make the race day experience complete, the girls also enjoyed fabulous Porsche hospitality in the Racecar Driver’s Lounge; first-hand race watching experiences; and an exclusive opportunity to interview Kellymoss drivers Loni Unser and Ashley Freiberg on their paths to success in racing.
This unique program pairing the high-octane excitement and fun of the motorsports world with hands-on, competitive learning challenges was created by Kellymoss owner and Chief Business Officer, Victoria Thomas.
“Our Motorsports Mastery program was designed to introduce middle and high school-aged girls to the excitement of racing and opportunities for career growth in motorsports,” Thomas said. “It’s critical to growth in our industry to showcase the possibilities for women in our sport, and also expose youth to racing as the next generation of fans, engineers, drivers, and more. This program accomplishes both those objectives.”
Motorsports Mastery will again hold a trackside activation with the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Tirerack.com Battle on the Bricks event produced by IMSA on September 20, and a shop-based event at Kellymoss headquarters in early November.
As part of each event, participating scouts earn a special Kellymoss Motorsports Mastery patch for their collection, and receive access to a curated portal of additional interviews with women working in professional roles throughout the motorsports industry.
Motorsports Mastery is made possible via the generous support of our sponsors - Yokohama Tire, PenFed Credit Union, and Porsche Motorsport North America.
