Be Your Own Hero is a Race Forward program that brings visibility to women in motorsports and opens real opportunities for the next generation. Through drivers like Loni Unser and Ashley Freiberg, their stories, and trackside experiences, the program helps more people see a place for themselves in the sport.
Meet Your Race Forward Driver Heroes
Loni Unser
Loni's love for competition comes naturally, as her family name is synonymous with racing glory. From an early age, she raced just about anything she could get her hands on - skis, mountain bikes, dirt bikes, and now, professional race cars.
After finishing third in her class in her first season with Kellymoss in 2024, Loni took another major step forward in 2025. She earned more than 10 podiums, including her first Porsche Sprint Challenge victory at Watkins Glen, and finished the season as vice-champion in the Cayman Pro-Am class.
In 2026, Loni advanced to Pirelli GT4 America with Kellymoss, competing alongside Ashley Freiberg in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Prior to Kellymoss, her resume included three seasons in the WRL, including her first win in 2018, two MX-5 Cup events and numerous appearances in endurance and Spec Miata races.
Loni also has an impressive media resume, with appearances in Jay Leno's Garage, MotorTrend TV, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Porsche and Autoweek, just to name a few.
Ashley Freiberg
Ashley is a seasoned competitor with diverse driving experience. A podium regular and 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge Champion, she’s worked her way from karting to open-wheel racing to sports car and endurance competition.
Following another strong Porsche Sprint Challenge season in 2024, Ashley moved up to Porsche Carrera Cup North America in 2025, taking on the highest tier of Porsche single-make racing in North America.
In 2026, she took another major step forward, joining Kellymoss in Pirelli GT4 America and competing alongside Loni Unser in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
As impressive as her long list of accomplishments - including her MAVTV documentary series, In the Machine, and success across multiple levels of professional motorsport - is her “can’t quit, won’t quit” attitude and relentless optimism.
