MADISON, Wis. (Sept. 15, 2015) – Kelly Moss Motorsports is heading to the Lone Star State for Rounds 13 and 14 of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
The team hopes the land of cowboy hats and barbeque will bring some luck and big wins. Each race is vital to the championship race with only four rounds left in the 2015 season.
Kelly Moss’ young star, Jesse Lazare, is second in the Platinum Cup Driver standings, 19 points out of the lead. His improvement this season under the direction of Kelly Moss Vice President Jeff Stone has been remarkable. Lazare has tallied seven podium finishes this season, including five wins.
He will search for his sixth and seventh wins of the season with what would be his first podium finish at the 3.4-mile, 20-turn circuit. Lazare had a fourth-place finish last year at the track.
Lazare’s consistency this season has kept Kelly Moss in the hunt for its second straight Platinum Cup Team Championship. The team is also in second place, only eight points behind the leader.
In the Platinum Masters class, teammates Bill Peluchiwski and Jay Patel continue their battle for second place. Over the last six rounds, the two have jockeyed back and forth for position on track and in the standings.
Patel leads Peluchiwski by just seven points with four rounds remaining.
Kurt Fazekas and Dan Weyland will join Peluchiwski and Patel in the Platinum and Platinum Masters competition at COTA.
Fazekas joined the team at Road America and has five top-10 finishes since that point in the Platinum Masters class.
Kelly Moss will round out its lineup with David and Wayne Ducote competing in the Gold Cup and Gold Masters classes. The father-son duo has run a partial season with the team and is still in fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the Gold Masters points standings.
David Ducote, from Houston, has five podium finishes this season and has enjoyed success at COTA in the past. Last year he claimed an overall Gold and Gold Masters victory in Round 13.
Round 13 starts at 12:30 p.m. (CT) Thursday, Sept. 17, following a 20-minute qualifying session at 8 a.m. Round 14 begins 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, the only night race of the season. Both rounds will be live streamed at imsa.com. Live timing and scoring will be available for all sessions at scoring.imsa.com.
Kelly Moss is inviting drivers to experience its home away from home at the racetrack as it looks to fill a championship-contending roster for the 2016 season. Interested drivers can visit the team at Circuit of the Americas to see the team in action and meet with team officials.
