MADISON, Wis. (Aug. 18, 2015) – After an emotional week following the passing of founder and president, David Stone, Kelly Moss Motorsports will honor him in the best way possible. The team will race in his honor in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama and Pirelli World Challenge Championship GT Cup presented by MOMO Motorsport.
Kelly Moss young drivers Jesse Lazare and Colin Thompson will look to grow their championship leads in Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA and Pirelli World Challenge Championship GT Cup, respectively.
The team will compete in a three-race event weekend Aug 21-23 at VIRginia International Raceway in Danville, Virginia, in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama.
Lazare is coming off a weekend sweep in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA)-sanctioned Single-Make Series. He captured victories in Rounds 7 and 8 at Road America to regain the Platinum Cup Championship point lead, 154-151, over second place.
Jay Patel and Bill Peluchiwski also will compete in the Platinum Cup and Platinum Masters classes. The two are locked in a tight battle for second place in the Platinum Masters points standings. Patel leads his teammate by three points, 124-121.
Patel and Peluchiwski have enjoyed fierce battles during the last four rounds, dueling each other at every turn. They each picked up a podium finish at Road America.
Round 11 is scheduled to begin at 8:50 a.m. (ET) Saturday, Aug. 22. Round 12 starts at 9:20 a.m. Sunday Aug. 23 followed by the rescheduled Round 4 starting at 4:30 p.m. Round 4 has been rained out twice previously. All three races are 45 minutes.
All three rounds will be live streamed at www.imsa.tv, with live timing of all sessions at scoring.imsa.com. Sinclair Broadcast Group will provide delayed television coverage of the event Sept. 5-6 on major network affiliates in numerous U.S. markets.
At the same time, Thompson and the team head to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, for Rounds 14 and 15 of the PWC GT Cup.
Thompson has dominated the Porsche series this season, earning 10 victories in 13 races. He has a commanding lead, 1,672-1,139, in the points championship with five rounds left in the season.
The first race of the weekend starts at 12:45 p.m. (MT) Saturday, Aug. 22. The second race of the weekend is Sunday, Aug. 23. Pre-race and March to the Grid starts at noon, followed by the second 50-minute race.
