Colin Thompson has racing in his blood. He was at the track before he was even born, while his dad, John Thompson, raced in Indy Lights. Taking after his dad, Colin started racing when he was only 5 years old and fell in love the first time he ever sat in a quarter-midget car. He progressed from karts to open-wheel cars and from ovals to road courses through his early teens. He started racing Porsche’s in 2013 wearing the No. 14 to honor the legendary Al Holbert and a helmet that mimicked his father’s from his championship-winning days. Thompson’s ultimate goal is to be a factory Porsche driver. Thompson’s dream car is a Porsche 911 streetcar. He is a fitness fanatic and a practical joker at heart.
“Driving for Kelly-Moss is the best thing I could have done. They pursued me hard, but even more than that, the fit was there and was just confirmed even more after the first race. They are a great team, and they give me a fast car, so there’s nothing more I could ask for.”
With Kelly-Moss Colin won back to back Championships in the IMSA GT3 and PWC Series. Colin is now a World Challenge driver for K-Pax Racing.
It is exciting to have Colin working come back to the team, with us now as a driver coach.
