Double Race Weekend Ahead for Kelly-Moss Road and Race

2 tracks, 4 races, and 9 drivers as Kelly-Moss races on both sides of the country with events at Watkins Glen and Sonoma Raceway

Madison, Wisc. (29 June 2016) – This weekend is a big one for Kelly-Moss Road and Race as the Wisconsin-based team heads to opposite sides of the country for two separate double-header events. Racing on two of the top road course venues in the country at Watkins Glen International and Sonoma Raceway, Kelly-Moss Road and Race is well-prepared for what is sure to be a very competitive few days of racing.

Fielding six cars in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama, Kelly-Moss travels to the iconic Watkins Glen International for Round 4 of the 2016 Championship. Kelly-Moss Road and Race will field six Porsche entries, four in the USA Platinum category and two in the USA Gold category. The race will once again have the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge USA and Canada series combined with over 35 entries expected in the event.

Kelly-Moss Road and Race currently leads the team championship standings and competing under the Kelly-Moss banner this weekend will once again be Jesse Lazare (No. 21), Kurt Fazekas (No. 52), Bill Peluchiwski (No. 74), and Mike Hedlund (No. 77) who were all in IMSA GT3 Cup action at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve two weeks ago in Montreal.

Lazare, who calls Montreal home, claimed back-to-back victories for the team and is second in the driver championship standings heading into this weekend’s event.

Both Fazekas and Peluchiwski brought home two top-10 results in Montreal with Fazekas finishing fourth on Sunday and Peluchiwski sixth on Sunday. Both drivers look to improve upon those performances at the newly repaved 3.4-mile Watkins Glen road course which is a driver favorite on the 2015 schedule.

Hedlund is hungry for two strong results this weekend after contact took him out of contention in the first IMSA GT3 race at Montreal before he battled back for an eighth place finish in the second event. Hedlund is also fresh off of his debut run at the prestigious Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. He campaigned the ‘Road to Le Mans’ support race during the 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend alongside co-driver Guy Cosmo as the duo drove to a fifth place finish in LMP3 machinery.

Contesting the Gold category for Kelly-Moss Road and Race is the father-son duo of Wayne and David Ducote. Wayne Ducote last raced for Kelly-Moss in the Sebring season-opener in which he picked up sixth and seventh place finishes. David Ducote most recently drove for Kelly-Moss in the 2015 season-finale at Mazda Raceway when he picked up a Platinum Masters victory.

Meanwhile, across time-zones, three Kelly-Moss Road and Race entries will take part in the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA double-header at Sonoma Raceway in Northern California. Kelly-Moss will be well-represented in the top Diamond class division with Patrick Laughlin (No. 23), Bryce Ward (No. 57), and Russell Ward (No. 33) all returning to race action for Race 9 and 10 of the championship as the series reaches the half-way point of its season.

Laughlin will look to build on a successful outing in his Porsche at Mazda Raceway one month ago in which he took home two sixth place finishes in his No. 23 machine.

The Wards, who are making just their third-ever car race outing at Sonoma Raceway this weekend, are looking forward to learning another new racetrack. Bryce Ward showed well at Mazda Raceway by picking up two seventh place results. Russell Ward is eager to get back up and running at Sonoma after a mechanical issue caught him out early at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
