13 Wins. Two Championships. One Team. Kelly Moss.

MONTEREY, Calif. (Sept. 14, 2015) – One driver championship. One team championship. One Crew of the Year award. 13 wins. 16 pole positions. 10 fastest lap records. 15 podium finishes. One dominating season in the GT Cup presented by MOMO Motorsports class of the Pirelli World Challenge Championship.

Thompson and the team entered the final race weekend Sept. 11-13 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca already having claimed the Driver and Team championships. But that didn’t stop Thompson from going full out to add to his win total.

He started his weekend in what has become a dominating habit. Thompson claimed the top times in both practices and earned pole position for Round 18 in the No. 11 Kelly Moss/Porsche of Bucks County Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

Thompson had a clean start on the 11-turn, 2.238-mile jewel of a road course, but skilled, clean driving from Alec Udell helped Udell take the lead through the first lap. Thompson settled into second, putting down consistent laps and waiting to make his move.

His chance would come on Lap 20. Thompson showed his championship form and developed racecraft as he used faster GT class cars coming through the field to help him pass Udell and reclaim the lead.

“The start was great for me, but Sloan (Urry) and Alec did a good job under braking,” Thompson said. “They were able to get by me two turns later. It made it tough, and Alec was fast. We then got a nice gap, and we pretty much plateaued with our times at that point. With a little luck and some traffic, I was able to get back by him. Then I saved the car for the win.:

Thompson never trailed after his decisive pass and captured his 13th win of the season, an exclamation point on a dominant season in the inaugural GT Cup.

The race will be broadcast at 3:30 p.m. (ET) Sunday, Sept. 20 on CBS Sports Network.

Kelly Moss and its PWC partners, TruSpeed Autosport, also earned honors as the GT Cup Crew of the Year, voted on by all the competing teams in the paddock, in addition to the Team and Driver championship.

The two championships were the second in two years for Thompson and Kelly Moss, after claiming both the Platinum Cup Driver and Platinum Cup Team championships last year in Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama.

The championships are byproducts of the work the Kelly Moss team puts into every car and driver under its tent. The team seeks to fill its championship-contending roster for the 2016 season. Interested drivers can contact for more information.
